About RBA 
Reproductive Biology Associates (RBA) was established in 1983 in order to provide emerging reproductive technology to patients who had not achieved pregnancy through conventional diagnostic and therapeutic measures. From the very beginning, RBA has been a leader in the development and refinement of clinical procedures and scientific techniques, which enhance pregnancy outcomes.
Examples of RBA leadership include:
- 1983- Established Georgia's first IVF program.
- 1984- Established Georgia's first IVF birth.
- 1986- RBA was the third IVF program in the United States, the first on the East Coast, to achieve a pregnancy from a
frozen embryo.
- 1988- RBA was the first IVF program in the world to report a baby born with the aid of a micromanipulation
known as partial zona dissection or PZD.
- 1991- RBA was one of the first IVF centers in the U.S. to report success with sperm retrieved through testicular sperm
aspiration (MESA/TESE).
- 1992- RBA established the first anonymous oocyte (egg) donation program in Georgia. Today, the program is one
of the largest in the Southeast.
- 1992- RBA reported the first birth in Georgia using a gestational carrier.
- 1993- RBA became the first IVF program in the U.S. to achieve a pregnancy and birth through intracytoplasmic
sperm injection (ICSI).
- 1995- RBA was the first IVF program in the Southeast to achieve a pregnancy with the aid of Preimplantation
Genetic Diagnosis (PGD).
- 1997- RBA reported the first births in the Western Hemisphere from frozen donor eggs. While the procedure is still
experimental, once perfected, it may make it possible to restore fertility to women who become infertile following
chemotherapy/radiation, or ovariectomy. It may also be possible in several years to preserve a woman's fertility by
freezing her eggs at a young age, and storing them until she is ready to start a family.
- 2002- RBA completed the first clinical trial on the use of Platelet Activating Factor (PAF) in an IUI program. Based upon
these results, RBA became the first and ONLY clinic to offer PAF / IUI.
- 2003- RBA was the first clinic in the U.S. to introduce Lysed Cell Removal, an IVF technique which contributes to
increased frozen pregnancy rates.
- 2004- RBA was the first clinic in the U.S., and in the world, to introduce PGD on frozen thawed embryos, both on
live and lysed cells.
- 2005- RBA introduced routine aneuploidy screening in young (<35 years) infertile patients, both for diagnostic and
treatment purposes.
- 2005- Reproductive Biology Associates reaches 6,000 IVF births.
- 2007- RBA established Georgia’s first egg donor bank, to benefit egg recipient patients by decreasing time for matching, price, and potential excess cryopreserved embryos.
- 2008- RBA began offering Fertility Preservation Services for those women up to age 38 who desire to freeze their eggs. Pregnancy success rates are age-dependent and equal to our current fresh cycle pregnancy rates.
Not every couple experiencing infertility needs in vitro fertilization or other highly technical procedures in order to
conceive. RBA offers a wide range of conventional services designed to provide efficient and effective treatment
options for these couples.

Many couples trying to conceive have both male and female-related causes for their infertility. In order to care for these couples in a proficient manner, the RBA staff includes a urologist/male infertility specialist who provides treatment and evaluation for complex male-related reproductive problems.
