How Do Egg Donor Guarantee Programs Work?
by MyEggBankin Finding a DonorOctober 28th, 2020

When intended parents first decide to pursue egg donation to build or grow their family, it’s not unusual for there to be feelings of apprehension and uncertainty. To help ease these anxieties, some egg banks, including MyEggBank, offer guarantee programs. There are many different types of guarantee programs, and each one is suitable for different situations. To give you an idea of what to expect, here’s a rundown of the egg donor guarantee programs at MyEggBank.
The Single- and Two-Embryo Guarantee Programs
The single- and two-embryo guarantee programs are good options for parents who have healthy uteruses and sperm. In both programs, the process begins with the intended parents choosing a donor from our online database.
In the single-embryo guarantee program, MyEggBank ships six frozen eggs from that donor to your in vitro fertilization (IVF) center of choice, where a single embryo is guaranteed to be created. In the two-embryo guarantee program, your frozen sperm of choice is shipped to your egg donor’s MyEggBank center. The donor eggs are fertilized using the sperm. The lab creates at least two high-quality blastocysts, freezes them, and then ships them back to your center so that they can be thawed and transferred.
Egg Survival Guarantee Program
In this guarantee program, six eggs from your chosen egg donor are shipped to your donation center. Of this lot, MyEggBank guarantees that at least four of the eggs will survive the thaw. Once the eggs are thawed in a laboratory, they will be fertilized with your chosen sperm and prepared for transfer.
Single-Euploid Embryo Guarantee Program
This guarantee program involves the use of preimplantation genetic testing. As with the single-and two-embryo guarantee program, the process begins with you choosing your donor from the database and arranging for your chosen sperm to be sent to the MyEggBank center of the egg donor, where the embryos are created.
In this guarantee program, the embryos are then biopsied and frozen. The biopsied samples are sent to a genetics laboratory, where they will be tested to see if they have a normal number of chromosomes, also known as a euploid embryo. MyEggBank guarantees that one euploid embryo will be created. Again, this is a good option for intended parents who have healthy uteruses and sperm.
Fresh Egg Guarantee Programs
MyEggBank now offers fresh donor egg cycles with their own guarantee options. One option designates that the lab will fertilize enough fresh eggs to ensure that one, two, or three embryos are created. The other option is for the lab to fertilize all of a donor’s retrieved eggs in order to yield one or two blastocyst embryos. The latter option is an ideal choice for those who wish to build their family using a single egg donor.
